As I gaze up at the powder blue sky and take a breath of perfumed air I feel like a very lucky lady today.
There is something about walking out on a spring day that is terrifically healing. As the wind floats through my hair I feel like the cobwebs of winter are being blown away and the darkness of winter that has been matching my mood is slowly clearing.
It's days like these this that are the best, the ones that take you by surprise. I woke with an impending sense of doom that today would be boring and stagnant. I have been pleasantly surprised.
It remind me that so much of our lives drift on by blending into each other making the shade of mundane life. Wishing away the days for the weekend or for that holiday that is two weeks of the year.

Happy hooking
So my addiction to crochet continues. I find It clears my mind and channels my rumination into something productive.
My little project yesterday was creating some gloves for a friend.
It must have been the easiest pattern I have discovered. So though lt I would share it with other crochet lovers.
Modern fingerless gloves
Chain 30 for long gloves 18 for short.
Row 1: dc into second chain and dc in each chain until the end. One chain and turn.
Rows 2-?
Dc in back of each stitch until the end of row, chain 1 and turn. Easy as that !
Keep going until you can wrap it around your hand .
Creating your gloves
Match up the edges and use a wool needle to sew first 5 stitches together.. Sew one side only for 3-4 stitches depending on how big your thumb is. This will create a hole.
Continue sewing both sides together until the end of the length. Fasten off.
Decoration
Use a different colour to work into the bottom of your glove to create a cuff. I did two rows of dc to create a cuff.
That's it!!!! You just have to do it all over again to create the second glove.
They make a fantastic gift and are great fun. You can also add little flowers etc to decorate

Getting away from it all
I seem to spend the whole day rushing around with the same goal in mind... To relax. I have been working considerably hard for weeks and not managed it.
Lotions and potions, time out, tv. Little did I know that a simple walk by the lake would make me feel like a millions dollars. There is something about the vast rippling water that puts my mind at ease. The air blowing through your hair the sunshine warming your skin. The best things in life are readily available and free. It's so easy to get lost in the quest for happiness and as a result concentrating on shallow or materialistic situations. When real happiness is staring you right in the face and is on your doorstep.

Crochet addiction
I have been lucky enough to embark on a crochet course and absolutely love the opportunity to learn something new.
Thought I would share a few of my pieces of crochet in progress.
The first picture is my granny square blanket. Every time I learn a new stitch I create a square. So my blanket it like a story of my crochet journey.
The second picture is my project for this evening. It's absolutely amazing abs involves using the front and back of the chain and working stitches into both sections. I found this brilliant idea on attic24 blog.

New Beginnings
Thought I would start this blog marking a new chapter of my life. Up until a year and a half ago my life revolved around being a teacher. It is the best job in the world and invloves all my passions. Creativity, acting and performing.
This all changed when my little cherub came along and changed life as I knew it. He is the biggest gift of all but to be honest even though I wouldnt change him for the world he has shock my universe to the core and I have found myself on the new path of housewife.
Having time at home has allowed me to reflect on my past experiences as a teacher and why I love it so much.
As a child I always imagined teachers as a entirely different species and have found that it some this has transfered to adult hood. I want this blog to give you a tongue in cheek insight into my experiences as a teacher and challege the social stereotypes of our species.
Here is a sample of the sorts of things I wanted to share
There is something about the title of teacher that makes you think of the greasy haired maths teacher that reeks of coffee and crusty old books. As a younger teacher I aspire to not conform to the social stereotypes. However my love of crochet and Shakespeare is not helping with my "sick" teacher title.
Incase you have not already guessed "sick" means good according to the children of today.
Usually this word fills teachers with dread! There is nothing like a pile of that weird saw dust stuff to dampen the day and make you think about why you didn't just do a 9-5 like your friends.
Oh yeah that reminds me, teachers work 9-3 don't they?
There is nothing like this statement to create snarles and twitches in a staff room. Seriously don't teachers just play all day and go home at home time? Not forgetting the most famous quote of all "all those long holidays"
First of all I am in school whilst your still reading your morning paper at 7.30am.
Planning, preparation and marking all need to be done. There are averagely 4-5 lessons a day with 30 pieces of work that need to be marked! You don't have to be a level 5 in maths (above average year 6 says result) to work out that is a lot of marking.
My lunch break is 45 minutes 15 spent keeping children in, helping with work, lecturing and waiting for children to achieve the lesson objective. 10 minutes answering random questions in the corridor. "miss what's you real name?" " do you like cats miss" who is god? The list is endless.
5 minutes spent in the heads office talking about disruptive behaviour. 10 minutes spent writing a report on disruptive behaviour.
15 minutes marking and somehow we need to fit in our lunch break and call back mrs T about why little johnny was kept in yesterday lunchtime.
Do you get the idea now? Teachers are busy people. Nowhere there does it mention playing, talking of tea drinking.
Don't get me wrong I love my job how can you not?
I plan to share with you some of the weird and wonderful expereinces I have had as a teacher and Im sure there are many more to come.
Thank you for reading my blog
